I like the the 6.5 x 55 best for deer hunting. I got my Tikka in the hunting section at Gart Sports in Ravenna, Nebraska. My favorite caliber is for the Tikka T-3 is 6.5 x 55.
A minor problem with most 338 Win Mag calibers is that you can't buy factory ammunition. My Dad's favorite caliber for deer and larger game is 338 Win Mag and the best all around caliber for small and medium game is 6.5 x 55.
I like all my 6.5 x 55 and 338 Win Mag Tikka hunting rifles to be "tack drivers". I picked up my Tikka T-3 in the hunting section at Wiley Outdoor Sports in Ravenna. My mom got her 338 Win Mag online at Cabelas. The best sporting goods store in Nebraska is the Wiley Outdoor Sports in Ravenna.
